Inaprubahan na sa ikatlo at final rreading ang senate bill 1541 na magbibigay kapangyarihan kay Pangulong Rodrigo Roa DUterte na ipagpaliban ang pagbubukas ng klase sa Agosto.
Ang panukalang batas ay sponsored ni basic education committee chair Senator Sherwin Gatchalian. Nagmula ito sa mga panukala nina Senator Joel Villanueva, Francis TOlentino at Senate President Vicente 'Tito' Sotto III.
"We are in a precarious situation because of the COVID-19. I sincerely believe that we must allow some flexibility in our laws…No less than the President himself, President Rodrigo Duterte, reacted yesterday (Monday) about this particular issue. We support the concerns of the President. This measure will pacify stakeholders and reassure parents who remain wary of sending their kids back to school while the pandemic is still in place," sabi ni Villanueva.
SUportado naman ni Senador Juan MIguel Zubiri ang nasabing panukala.
"Because we are in an extraordinary situation that calls for measures immediately responsive to our people’s needs.. I said it before and I am saying it again that we need a proactive stance now more than ever because this concerns a very important and vulnerable demographic of our population: our children, this country’s future.. With thousands of confirmed COVID-19 cases now in the country and more to expect given increased testing, there is a need to give our government the flexibility to postpone the opening of classes at a later date for our children’s safety and welfare," saad ni Zubiri.
